A luxury 1-bedroom duplex apartment with a balcony is available to rent in Brussels's Etterbeek neighbourhood. It's technically a 3-bedroom apartment, but the other 2 bedrooms will be locked, and are used as the landlady's storage. The interior is exceptionally sophisticated and elegant, complete with high ceilings, antique furniture, and classical art - it's almost palatial. There is a grand dining room with a large table, and a living space which is very comfortable and bright. The long kitchen is fully equipped with modern appliances including a dishwasher. There are 2 balconies - one is by the living room, and the other is attached to the kitchen.

This apartment is situated on Avenue de l'yser in Etterbeek, very close to the European Commission. The local area is peaceful, and characterised by elegant architecture. There are plenty of shops, cafés and restaurants in the vicinity, and the famous Parc du Cinquantenaire is just on your doorstep. You will be living a short walk from Merode train station, and there are several bus stops and trams nearby.

What we liked the most

  • Do you want to live in a palace? With classical art, elegant rooms and antique furniture, this is the next best thing.
  • This apartment is very spacious; it's spread over 2 floors, has high ceilings, and very large rooms.
  • There are 2 balconies; one is connected to the living space, and the other can be accessed through the kitchen.
  • The bedroom has its own toilet, and there is a larger bathroom downstairs.
  • The kitchen has a convenient dishwasher and plenty of worktop space.
  • You will be living a short walk from the European Commission - very practical for those who work for the EU.
  • The charming Parc du Cinquantenaire is just next to your apartment.

Things to keep in mind

  • This is technically a 3-bedroom apartment, but you won't be living with anyone else. The other 2 bedrooms are closed, and are for the landlady to store some of her belongings.
  • There is no washing machine, but there are launderettes nearby.
