Prepare to be charmed from the moment you walk into this 1-bedroom apartment for rent on Place du Grand Sablon, in the center of Brussels. The open-concept kitchen, dining and living room area has wood floors, exposed brick walls, a working fireplace, and it's flooded by natural light from the three large windows that overlook the square. Elegantly decorated, the space has a coffee table between a comfy sofa and two chairs, a flat screen TV, a credenza and shelving unit, and a six-seat dining table. The kitchen is fully equipped, including a dishwasher, and comes with all the necessary small appliances. The bedroom, which has a window toward the back, is spacious and comes with two large wardrobes and a double bed. It also has an ensuite water closet with toilet and sink and a separate shower room. Lastly, hidden away in a bedroom closet, you’ll find the washer and dryer, which may be the icing on the cake for some, but it’s just one more luxury in this exquisite home.

In earlier times, Sablon was just an unused space outside the city walls of Brussels. Today, it’s a neighborhood that has practically been absorbed by the city center. The apartment is located on Grand Sablon, which is one of two main squares in the area. The other, Petit Sablon, is only a 5-minute walk down the street. Both areas are vibrant and alive with busy cafés and restaurants, but if you’re in the mood to sing a chord or two, there is a karaoke bar just 1 minute outside your door. Major sights in this part of town include the Royal Palace. You don’t want to miss a chance to visit at least once, but you might want to walk the beautiful palace gardens, known as Brussels Park, daily. The good news is that living here, you can do just that!

What we liked the most

  • The apartment is modern, stunning and comfortable, and while natural light streaming into the apartment is great, the thought of lighting up the fireplace on a cool winter night is just as exciting!
  • Your apartment is so centrally located that you can walk to many of the major sights, but public transit is easily accessible too.
  • Université Libre de Bruxelles is only a 30-minute bus ride from your door.
  • Cafés, restaurants, and even a karaoke bar are right outside your door.

  • As soon as you leave the apartment and set foot on Place du Grand Sablon, you'll see multiple bus stops served by lines 27, 48 and 95, which can quickly take you further downtown to the Grand Place and Place de la Bourse, or out to the European Quarter and other parts of Brussels.
  • Brussels Central Station, one of the most important railway stations in the city, is only 8 minutes away on foot. In addition to railway service, you can connect to lines 1 and 5 of the metro system from there.
  • Just 4 minutes away, past the church of Notre Dame du Sablon, on Rue de la Régence, you can hop on the tram and head north to Brussels Park, La Botanique or the Brussels-North railway station.
