Where does new meet old, and wood meet stone? In this gorgeous apartment, that's where. Check out those ceilings, and then check out the rest. And then admit that you want to live here. The apartment has a comfortable open-plan living area, with a modern kitchen that contrasts with the old design of the building. The bedrooms have the same contemporary style, and the same ceilings. It's really quite lovely.
And what's nearby. Well, in Manzoni, you're right on the edge of the Centro Storico. The Metro doesn't go much further than this because there's too much history to risk digging tunnels through the rock. Even if you're not here as a tourist, it's kind of hard not to be one. There's plenty besides history too: wander through the local streets and find plenty of shopping, and excellent local restaurants.
What we liked the most
- We adore the gorgeous vaulted ceilings.
- The open plan living room and kitchen is cosy, but bright and airy.
- Things that are less than 20 minute's walk away:
- Lateranse Palace (6 minutes; ex papal residence, dating from 4th century)
- Basilica di San Giovanni (7 minutes; Rome's Archbasilica)
- Tempio di Minerva Medica (9 minutes; ancient Roman nymphaeum)
- Monastero Agostiniano dei Santi Quattro Coronati (12 minutes; beautiful early medieval monastery)
- St. Clement Basilica (12 minutes; unique early medieval church built on Roman ruins)
- Colosseo (17 minutes; the Colosseum)
