This unique 2-bedroom apartment to rent on Via di S. Maria de’Calderari is on the ground floor. The historical neighborhood is reflected inside the apartment with wood beam and stone ceilings. The kitchen is fully equipped and includes a gas stove. It’s furnished with a TV and 4-seat table. The bathroom is located down a set of stairs and includes a bidet and shower. To get to the first bedroom, you’ll need to walk up a ladder. It has a small window, so you do get a little bit of light. It also has a bunk bed and ample storage for clothes. The second bedroom, which is larger and has a double bed, is down a spiral staircase. It doesn’t get natural light. However, it has an ensuite bathroom, complete with a shower, jacuzzi tub and even a Roman column!
You’re at the heart of it all when living in Centro Storico. Practically every famous Roman site is a short walk from your new home. Within 10 minutes, you’ll reach the Pantheon, Piazza Venezia, and Farnese Palace. The Tiber River is just a couple of minutes down the street. There are kosher and other restaurants nearby, as well as pastry and ice-cream shops. You can pick up groceries at the Coop Supermarket or head to the daily market at Piazza Campo de' Fiori. It has been operating since 1869 and is 5 minutes away. During the day, you can explore dozens of museums and art galleries.
What we liked the most
- The apartment is built into Roman ruins, which is unusual but uniquely attractive.
- The neighborhood is a history and art lover's dream. Museums and art galleries are around every corner.
- Bars and cocktail lounges are abundant. If you prefer soda and popcorn, head to Farnese Cinema. It’s 5 minutes away.
- You’ll clock a lot of miles walking around the neighborhood. If you want a more rigorous workout, head to the Farnese Fitness Gym up the street.
Things to keep in mind
- Although it's located on the ground floor, the apartment has a lot of stairs. If you have mobility problems, it's best to avoid this one.
